In the industrial center of our state, the city of Karaganda, due to numerous requests from residents of the city and region, in June 2010, construction began on a new mosque. The project is designed for 2,000 prayer places. Location - in the park area "EthnoPark", separating the old and new city. The main building of three floors with high ceilings provides all the necessary facilities for prayer, washing, there is a memorial hall, a cloakroom, a prayer hall for women for 600 people, rooms for clergy and ministers of the mosque. The building will be decorated with one large and six small domes. The architectural ensemble of the project is framed by 4 minarets, each 63 m high, which corresponds to the height of an 18-storey building. They will rise above the whole district, reminding believers from a distance about the place and time of prayer with their appearance and azancha appeals. The height of the minarets also carries a symbolic meaning - the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah) lived for exactly so many years. The same height of minarets is planned in Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk. The estimated cost of the work is 1.7 billion tenge. Completion of construction is planned at the end of 2011.

The initiator of the construction of a mosque in Karaganda and the customer were the public fund "Social Initiatives Fund" Shapagat - Karaganda ", specially created by the public of the region to raise funds and implement the project. The Foundation was preceded by the Fund's major work in consolidating finances, organizing design and construction. The general contractor is the Astana company Kulager LLP, which has experience in building religious buildings. One of its completed projects is a city mosque in Petropavlovsk for 750 places.

On June 4, 2010, the grand opening of the construction of the Karaganda central mosque took place, in the presence of the regional administration and the general public. Specially arrived at the event in Karaganda, the supreme mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan Absattar kazhy Derbisaly laid the first stone in the construction of a mosque and blessed the beginning of godly work with prayer.
